Charnwood Gardening Project - Leicester

New Sensory Garden at the Charnwood Gardening Project, Leicester

Charnwood Gardening Project, part of Voluntary Action Charnwood in Leicester, has been running for 15 years and offers opportunities for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The group also works with local colleges and universities to provide work experience for students at all levels.

Brett Landscaping donated over 350 of its popular Broadway riven paving flags to the new sensory garden in Loughborough. The reason for creating such an inspired garden is to benefit wheelchair users and people with limited mobility at Charnwood Gardening Project.

Volunteers cleared and levelled the ground. The products from Brett Landscaping were used to create a large, accessible paved area, complemented by raised beds made with railway sleepers. Donations were also received to purchase a greenhouse.

Sarah Gretton, of Brett Landscaping said: “This new sensory garden will give wheelchair users and people with limited mobility the chance to enjoy the outdoors. Being able to donate materials which we make locally, free of charge, to such a worthy community project is what the Love Your Landscape initiative is all about. We were pleased to be invited to the official opening and wish all at the project every success for the future.”

Bobby Smith, Charnwood Gardening Project Coordinator commented: “The support we have received from companies like Brett Landscaping, as well as individuals, has been incredible. We would like to thank to all those that have so generously donated equipment, materials, money and time.
