Longridge Station Transformed Thanks To Material Donation From Brett Landscaping

The Old Station Buildings at Longridge have been transformed into a much longed-for community facility for residents and visitors. The work was completed this month after the building had stood largely empty for a number of years. Residents and visitors to the town will now be able to enjoy a host of new facilities including space for meetings, a local archive, exhibition space and a themed cafe.

The outside area of the Old Station Buildings will function as a public square to stage events and community projects throughout the summer, thanks to a donation from Brett Landscaping. In keeping with the building’s former use, Brett Landscaping’s Alpha Antique block paving has been laid to depict the old railway tracks which were first installed in 1840 to carry stone from the Tootle Heights quarry to Preston.

Richard Kirkby, Principal Planning Officer at Lancashire County Council’s environmental projects team said: “It’s been a long time coming, but we are so pleased to open the community facility to the public. The Station is an important part of the town’s history and it’s fantastic that we have been able to preserve the building.

"The outside looks great and I know the whole community will enjoy using it. We are incredibly grateful to Brett Landscaping for the significant donation of material which has allowed us to create this wonderful area."

Chris Droogan, Managing Director at Brett Landscaping said; "Community projects such as these are incredibly important and Brett Landscaping is proud to be a part of the renovation of the Old Station Buildings. We are pleased that the donation of these products will allow the community to enjoy the outside space well into the future."

The products were donated through Brett Landscaping’s Love Your Landscape campaign which helps to renovate public outdoor spaces and make a difference to the environment for future generations to enjoy.
